About The Prayer Shawl Ministry:

“Our mission is to Reach Out to Show God’s Love to Others through the work of our hands and the prayers of our hearts.”

The Prayer Shawl Ministry was started at Kee Street UMC on March 15, 2012 after much thought and prayer. The prayer shawl is a tangible way to show others we are praying for them and God is with them. They are never alone. Prayer shawls are given to those who are sick, undergoing surgery, to comfort during bereavement, as well as for a marriage or birth of a baby. The shawls are a comfort to those who receive them. Many people have said they can feel the prayers and God’s presence. The shawls are prayed over as they are being crocheted. After they are completed, they are prayed over by the congregation and pastor. They are prayed over as they are being wrapped and when they are placed on the shoulders of the recipient. The prayer shawl is a special gift.  If you would like to request a prayer shawl, you may do so by calling the church office at 304-425-2441 and leave a message.
